The Worland Family in America and Beyond

I began my life in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, on an island filled with forests and wild rhododendrons. I was separated from my Worland family there at an early age. Recently, I was reunited with my family and learned of my heritage. And so, this journey to know my ancestors began. The Worlands, Gideons, Newtons, Conards... they were the colonists, the settlers, the pioneers. They fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War. This is their story, and the story of a nation. -Deci Worland MacKinnon

1844 Virginia

February 5, 1844- My great-great-great-great-grandfather, Peter Gideon, dies in Leesburg, Loudon, Virginia at the age of 92.

The father of George Gideon, and grandfather to Armstead Gideon, he was an innkeeper and farmer.

He fought in the American Revolution, as a soldier in the Maryland Line of Washington's Army.

He is listed in the D.A.R. registry of Patriots of the Revolutionary War.

He is buried at Pott's Cemetary, Hillsboro, Loudon, Virginia.

  1. The D.A.R. gal here in Wenatchee, found all 3 patriots, but found that the spelling was different for John Kunders Conard, she found Cunard instead.

Born 2/20/1738 Death 4/9/1803 buried Married to Eliabeth Potts

Then I noticed that Peter Gideon was buried in the Old Potts Cemetary. In the same town as John Cunard was also in. Thanks Deci
