1739- Sarah Elizabeth Burson has been born to Joseph Burson & Mary Rachel Potts at Gilbert's Manor in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. In 1739, the Burson family moved to Buckingham in Plumstead Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Many researchers give Sarah's birth as 1739, yet quote her marriage to Henry Addington as 1744. Highly unlikely, as she would have been five years old. In his will, Henry Addington gave his son, William, the responsibility of caring for Sarah, but she did not stay with William. In 1806, she moved to Indiana with her son, John.
Sarah is presumed to have been buried in Friends Community Cemetery, Chester, Indiana. Her obituary in the Richmond, Indiana, Public Ledger of 25 March 1826, gives her age as 100 years old. The 1827 Directory of Richmond, Indiana, lists early settlers, including John Addington, and states. "Addington's mother came with him, died at 103 years of age."
Ruth Burson is born to George Burson & Sarah Cox in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
Arnold Kuster dies at the age of 70 in Pennsylvania. The son of Paulus Kusters & Gertrudje Theissen Dohrs, Arnold was born in Germany. He was twice married, Rebecca Nuzom, then Gertrudt Conrads.
(Sarah Elizabeth Burson is my first cousin 7 times removed. Our common ancestors are Jonas Potts & Mary Thomaston. Ruth Burson is her first cousin. Ruth Burson is my third cousin 6 times removed. Our common ancestors are Thomas Potts & Elizabeth Baset.

The Worland Family in America and Beyond
I began my life in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, on an island filled with forests and wild rhododendrons. I was separated from my Worland family there at an early age. Recently, I was reunited with my family and learned of my heritage. And so, this journey to know my ancestors began. The Worlands, Gideons, Newtons, Conards... they were the colonists, the settlers, the pioneers. They fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War. This is their story, and the story of a nation. -Deci Worland MacKinnon

Thones Kunders
December 1, 1729- Mary Tyson is born to Derrick Tyson & Ann Hooten in Abington Township, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
December 17, 1729- John Lukens, eldest son of Abraham Lukens & Mary Maurle, is born in Towamencin Township, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
December 30, 1729- My eighth great grandfather, Thones Kunders, dies in Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In English, he was also known as Dennis Conrad.
Thones Kunders was born in Germany to Coentgen Lenssen Coenis & Anna Entgen Thones. At age 20, he was baptized into the Mennonite faith. He was a blue dyer by trade. He married Ellin Magdalena Tyson in Germany, and together they sailed aboard the "Concord" in 1683 to William Penn's new land in Pennsylvania, escaping persecution in Germany..There, they became members of the Society of Friends, the first meeting being held at their home in Germantown.
In 1688, Thones Kunders and the little band of Friends at Germantown, raised their voices in opposition to the institution of slavery, it being the first recorded protest against slavery in America.
He continued to live at Germantown the remainder of his life, in all a period of seventy-six years. His wife Ellin had died earlier the same year.
His daughter, Agnes Cunraeds, wife of Samuel Powell, died about the same time, perhaps on the same day.

September 1729, Pennsylvania
Monument to Original Settlers of Germantown
September 1729- My eighth great grandmother, Elin Theisson, wife of Thones Kunders, dies in Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Elin was born in Kirchen, Altenkirchen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany to Mathias Dohrs (Theiss) & Agnes Neesgen Op den Graeff. Her name in German was Lyntgen.
In 1670, she was baptized in the Mennonite Church in Goch. She came to this church while she was employed as a maidservant to a Mennonite family. In 1677, she married fellow Mennonite Thones Kunders, a linen weaver and blue dyer from Krefeld. (Portrait of Thones Kunders at left.)
Thones and Elin, with their three young sons, were among the first 13 German families to come to America aboard the "Concord" in 1683 and establish Germantown, Pennsylvania. The colonists had been preceded by Francis Daniel Pastorius, who had been charged with the duty of finding home lands for them within the province lately granted by the English sovereign to William Penn. After a voyage of seventy-four days the "Concord," five hundred tons burthen, William Jeffries, master, landed at Philadelphia, October 6, 1683. The passengers were all Quakers and Mennonites, escaping persecution in Germany.
They initially sought shelter in caves along the banks of the Delaware River. The first Friends meeting in Germantown was held in the house of Thones & Elin Kunders, and likely was continued there until the first meeting-house was built in 1686. It was in this house that the first Anti-Slavery document in America was written in 1688. It proved too controversial for even the Quakers to approve at their monthly and yearly meetings.
The site of the house is a national historic site today.
