December 1, 1729- Mary Tyson is born to Derrick Tyson & Ann Hooten in Abington Township, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

December 17, 1729- John Lukens, eldest son of Abraham Lukens & Mary Maurle, is born in Towamencin Township, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

December 30, 1729- My eighth great grandfather, Thones Kunders, dies in Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In English, he was also known as Dennis Conrad.
Thones Kunders was born in Germany to Coentgen Lenssen Coenis & Anna Entgen Thones. At age 20, he was baptized into the Mennonite faith. He was a blue dyer by trade. He married Ellin Magdalena Tyson in Germany, and together they sailed aboard the "Concord" in 1683 to William Penn's new land in Pennsylvania, escaping persecution in Germany..There, they became members of the Society of Friends, the first meeting being held at their home in Germantown.
In 1688, Thones Kunders and the little band of Friends at Germantown, raised their voices in opposition to the institution of slavery, it being the first recorded protest against slavery in America.
He continued to live at Germantown the remainder of his life, in all a period of seventy-six years. His wife Ellin had died earlier the same year.
His daughter, Agnes Cunraeds, wife of Samuel Powell, died about the same time, perhaps on the same day.

Robert Proud, in his History of Pennsylvania says, "Among the first Germantown settlers was Dennis Conrad. The first religious meeting of the Quakers, in that place, was held at his house in 1683. He was an hospitable, well-disposed man, of an inoffensive life and good character. He died in the year 1729."

WILL OF THONES KUNDERS
In the name of God. Amen.
I, Dennis Cunrads of Gerntown in the County of Philadelphia in the Province of Pensilvania being not of perfect health of body but of sound and Perfect mind and memory Praise be therefore given to almighty God. Do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) first and Principally I Commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God hopeing through the merits
of Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon of all my sins, and to Inherit everlasting Life, and my body I Commit to the Earth to be Decently Berryed at the Discretion of my Executors hereafter named-
And as touching the Disposition of all such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased God to Bestow upon me I Give and Dispose thereof as followeth.
Imprimis:-It is my will that all my Debts and funeral Charges be paid and Discharged.
Item. I Give and bequeath unto (my Son in Law) Griffith Jones The Dwelling house wheren I, (and the s-d Griffith Jones) now Dwell, and the Lot thereunto belonging Containing fifty acres of Land together with the Barns Stables Orchards Outhouses Stills (and Dying Kettle) Worms and Worm Tubbs thereunto belonging To have and to hold the sd Land with the Premises and appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the
sd Griffith Jones his heirs and assigns To the only proper use and behoof of him the sd Griffith Jones and his heirs and assigns forever, He the sd Griffith Jones finding and allowing Anthony Loofe (now living with me) suffecient meat and drink, washing and lodging and apparrell So long as the sd Anthony Loofe Shall Live. And It is my will that my said Son In Law Griffith Jones Pay for the sd Land and Premises the sum
one hundred and fifty Pounds of Lawfull money of Pensilvania. After the Death of the sd Anthony Loofe the said one hundred and fifty Pounds to equally divided amongst my children. That is to say Cunrad Cunrads Mathida Cunrads, John Cunrads, Henry Cunrads, Ann Streepers Agnes Powell and Elisabeth Jones, Each to have an Equal Share and share alike of the sd One hundred and fifty Pounds To them and their heirs forever.
Item. I Give and bequeath unto my sd Children, Cunrad, Mathias, John, Henery, Ann, Agnes and Elisabeth All the Rest and Remainder of my Estate, both Personal and Reall to be Equally Divided amongst them Each of my sd Children to have and to hold an Equal Share of the Remaind of my sd Estate to them (inseverally) and to their heirs and assigns forever.
Lastly, I do hereby nominate, Constitute and appoint my sd Son Cunrad Cunrads and my sd Son in Law Griffith Jones to be Joynt Executo s of this my Last Will and Testament hereby Revoking
Disannulling and makeing void all former wills and Testaments by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Twenty Two.
Beit Known That before the Delivery and Sealing hereof I Give and Bequeath to (my above named Son-in Law) Griffith Jones The bed and furniture Standing in the New Room to be for the use of friends.

1725- Joseph Conard is born to Cunraed Cunraeds & Ann Burson in Germantown, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.

David Potts marries Elizabeth Jane Lane,  a daughter of Edward Lane of Perkioman, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Perkiomen was in the neighborhood of Gilberts Manor, and the Lanes and Jonas Potts family did not live far apart. Elizabeth is said to have been a woman of fair complexion, and was familiarly known as "Betty."

1710 Pennsylvania

1710- John Conard is born to Cunraed Cunraeds & Anne Klincken in Germantown, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.

Cornelius Conard is born to Madtis Conard & Barbara Tyson in Germantown.

An excerpt from The Friend, Volume 35, December 28, 1861:

CORNELIUS CONRAD.
This Friend, a grandson of Dennis Conrad, who came from Crefelt, in Germany, was born in Abington, Philadelphia county, about the year 1712. His father died when he was quite young, and in the liberty which this event gave him, he ran out from the simplicity of the Truth. Yet, under the visitations of divine Grace, he was preserved from gross evils, and with advancing years, his conduct became more steady, and his conversation more sedate.

1715 Pennsylvania

1715- Thomas Potts and Rachel James are married at the Abington Meeting House in Pennsylvania.

Abington Monthly Meeting minutes; 6 mo 29, 1715. Whereas Thomas Potts son of David Potts, and Rachel James, Having declared Their Intentions of Marriage with each other, before two Monthly Meetings, Enquiry being made by persons appointed, and found clear from all others on ye account of marriage, did accomplish their Marriage in ye Unity of Friends as is signsfied by their marriage Certificate.


They lived in Roxborough Township, Philiadelphia County, for some years.
Rachel James, wife of Thomas, was born about 1695. She was an excellent woman, and an acceptable minister among Friends. The following biographical sketch of her is copied from "The Friend", Volume XXXII, page 365: Rachel Potts, wife of Thomas Potts, was born about 1695. She resided with her husband for many years within the limits of Gwynedd Monthly Meeting; and was a Minister in esteem there. About the year 1750, her husband removed his family to West Jersey, and settled far from any Meeting of Friends. This was a great grief to her, for her weakness of body was such as generally precluded her from the exertion necessary to enable her to meet with her Friends in social worship.

September 26, 1715- Lenart Streypers and Ann Entgen Cunraeds are married in Germantown, Pennsylvania.
Leonard Streypers, was presumably a son of William Streypers and a brother of Katherine Streypers, who married Henry Cunreds, a brother of Ann. Ann and her husband are supposed to have been first cousins. Of their descendants very little is known.

May 1716, Pennsylvania

May 9, 1716- Cornelius Theissen dies in Germantown, Pennsylvania.

"Guidebook to Historic Germantown", 1902

The Upper Burying Ground of Germantown, sometimes called Ax's burying ground, from John Frederick Ax, who had charge of it from 1724 to 1756, is on the east side of Main street, above the Concord school. Here are buried many of the early settlers of Germantown and their descendants. The oldest known grave is that of Cornelius Tyson, who died in 1716. Judge Pennypacker takes this to be the oldest existing tombstone to the memory of a Dutchman or German in Pennsylvania.

WILL OF CORNELIUS TYSON. Germantownship, Philadelphia County. Weaver.
April 6, 1716. July 27, 1716.

"In the name of God, Amen. I, Cornelius TYSON, of Germantown in ye County of Philadelphia, weaver, being sick and weak of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory, Thanks be to God therefore. Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament. First of all I recommend my Soul unto ye Hands of God my Merciful Creator and Saviour, and my body to be buried at the discretion of my executors. And concerning my worldly estate wherewith ye Lord hath Blessed my endeavors in this province; Imprimis, to my wife Margaret all and singular the plantation, housing, dattle, and moveables, during her natural life. To my youngest son, Peter TYSON, ye value of twenty pounds.To all and everyone of my children, to wit: Matthias TYSON, Barbara, ye wife of John CUNRADS, Alitie, ye wife of John CUNRADS, Willieminse, ye wife of Lawrents HENRITK, and the above Peter TYSON, after my said wife's decease, all and singular, mine estate. From the Colonial Families of Philadelphia:
1. "By his will dated April 8, and proved May 12, 1727 (registered, Philadelphia County Will Book E, p 46) he devised to his wile Mary, for life or during widowhood, the use of all his estate, real and personal; if she married again (which she did) she was to have one-third of the estate, plus ten pounds; the remaining two-thirds, less the ten pounds, to be then equally divided between his eight children- Maragret, Mary, Reynear, John Sarah, Isaac, Elizabeth and Matthew; his wife was made executrix and it was directed that the children be brought up under her care.
Mary Tyson, widow of Matthias, married (second) 11 mo, 1732, Thomas Fitzwater, permission granted by Abington Meeting, 10 mo 25, 1732 and the marriage reported at the next meeting, 11 mo 29 as having been accomplished meanwhile. The Fitzwater family was one of great prominence polically and socially in Abington township and vicinity, and also in the city of Philadelphia, where a principal street is named for it. The Fitzwaters intermarried a number of times with the Tyson family."

(The wife of Lenart Streypers, Ann Entgen Cunraeds, is my seventh great grandaunt. John Cunrads is her brother. Another brother, Cunraed Cunraeds, is my seventh great grandfather. Our common ancestors are Thones Kunders and Elin Theisson.
Elin Theisson is the aunt of Matthias Tyson. Their common ancestors are Mathias Dohrs and Agnes Neeson op den Graeff. Elin Theisson is my eighth great grandmother.)

Notes on Names- Thones, Cunraed and other German Confusion

The will of Aret Klincken, 1707, mentions Kunrad Kunders. This was the eldest son of Thones Kunders, who signed his name in later life as "Cunraed Cunraeds." His first name was in honor of an ancestor bearing the name Conrad or Coenrad, etc.

Eunicke Klincken, wife of Cunraed Cunraeds, was later known as Ann or Anne.

Thones Kunders' name was variously anglicized as Dennis Conrad, Dennis Conrads or Dennis Cunrads. Dennis was a close rhyme to Thones, which is an old variant of Anton or Anthony. The name Dennis and the name Anthony appear many times in Kunders' descendants, and both referred back to Thones Kunders and/or Thones Klincken, Aret's father. In the name Thones, the 'h' was silent, and sometimes it is seen as Tunis, Toonis, Teunes, and pronounced somewhere between Tennis and Toonis.The surnames Tunis, Tennis, are old remnants of the given name Thones.

Aret Klincken had a brother named Abraham Tunis. Aret Klincken was also referred to as Arnold. The name Aret was generally translated as Arnold.
Niske is also found as Nis or Nees, later referred to as Agnes. Some unwitting researchers have called the same person "Niske Agnes" or "Nees Agnes" not knowing that they were repeating the same name.

1747 Pennsylvania

1747- Cunraed Cunraeds, the oldest child of Thones and Elin Kunders, seems to have spent most of his married life in Worcester Township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and died there in 1747, aged sixty-nine years.
His will was dated Feb. 2, 1747, and was proved in March of the same year, showing that he died between those dates. His wife probably died before him, not being mentioned in the will.
His oldest son, Anthony, was willed five shillings. In 1737, Cunraed had deeded a farm of seventy-five acres to his son, Anthony, and may have considered that Anthony had received his proper share. (Anthony would not long survive his father, he died within weeks of his father's death. I would guess this was the result of some illness or an epidemic, I am researching this.)
His son Henry was given the homestead "the 100 acres I bought of Anthony Morris." This is supposed to have been the Heebner farm, near the Worcester creamery.
His third son, James, received the residue of his father's land. He and Henry were the executors. One son, John, seems to have been of weak or infirm mind, as his share of /40 is left in trust to his brothers, Anthony and Henry. He had six children, all sons, named respectively, Anthony, Henry, James, John, Joseph and Dennis, all of whom married and had children except John and Joseph.

March 1747- Anthony Cunraeds (Conard, Cunard) dies in Worcester Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. In his will, he is referred to as a yoeman, son of Cunraed. His will was proved at Salford, March 17, 1747. It names his wife, Sarah, cousin Daniel Morgan, his brother James and his children, and his children: John, Jonathan, Margaret, Elizabeth, Ann, Jane, and an unborn child.
