The Worland Family in America and Beyond

I began my life in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, on an island filled with forests and wild rhododendrons. I was separated from my Worland family there at an early age. Recently, I was reunited with my family and learned of my heritage. And so, this journey to know my ancestors began. The Worlands, Gideons, Newtons, Conards... they were the colonists, the settlers, the pioneers. They fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War. October 1733, England

October 22, 1733- Christiana Gulielma Penn, only child of William Penn III, by his first wife, Christiana Forbes, and after the death of her half-brother, Springett Penn, the only surviving representative of the elder line of the descendants of William Penn, the Founder, was born October 22, 1733, in London, Middlesex, England.
She was brought up in the family of her maternal grandfather, Alexander Forbes, at Dowgate Hill, their London Home, and at Auchorties, Scotland, the ancestral estate of the Forbes family.
Her mother, Christiana Forbes, died November 1, 1733, within a year of her marriage, soon after the birth of her daughter.

August 1732, Pennsylvania

Thomas Penn

August 11, 1732- Thomas Penn, accompanied by his brother-in-law Thomas Freame, sails for Pennsylvania, arriving at Chester August 11, 1732. During his nine-year stay in Philadelphia, Thomas has a small house built on the Springettsberry Manor lands adjoining the city, near the present Twentieth and Hamilton Streets, and embellishes the grounds with a great variety of plants and trees.
His elder brother John, and his sister Margaret Freame and her young son joined him, arriving September 19, 1734. John remained only a year, but Margaret Freame stayed until the news of her husband's death in the late spring of 1741. She and her brother Thomas then returned to England, arriving at Plymouth late the following November.

August 29, 1732- Mary Kirk is born to John Kirk & Sarah Tyson in Abington Township, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

1728 Pennsylvania

1728- Jonathan Potts is born to David Potts & Elizabeth Jane Lane in Germantown, Pennsylvania. He would move to Virginia with his parents.

James Lewis is born to James Lewis & Sarah Potts in Pottsgrove, Berks County, Pennsylvania.

About 1728 Thomas Penn appears to have been engaged in business of some sort in London, and to have had a partner. He writes to his brother John Penn, April 26 of that year, and signs the letter " Thomas Penn and Company;" in it he speaks of " my business on partnership, of which I some time since acquainted thee."
