The Worland Family in America and Beyond

I began my life in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, on an island filled with forests and wild rhododendrons. I was separated from my Worland family there at an early age. Recently, I was reunited with my family and learned of my heritage. And so, this journey to know my ancestors began. The Worlands, Gideons, Newtons, Conards... they were the colonists, the settlers, the pioneers. They fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War. 1742, Pennsylvania

My fifth great granduncle, Jonathan Conard, is born to Anthony Conard & Sarah Hatfield in Germantown, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.

My eighth great grandaunt, Mary Tyson, wife of Jan Lucken, dies at the age of 82 in Germantown.
Mary was born in Kaldekirchen, Germany, the daughter of Mathias Dohrs & Agnes Neesgen Op den Graeff. She and Jan immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1683.
(In the end of the 17th century some of the Op den Graeff`s descendents migrated to the United States. They are among the thirteen families (Original 13) often referred to as the Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Founders, who arrived on the ship Concord on October 6, 1683.)

Lucken—luken—Family Records.—Miss Annie M. Daniels, of Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, contributes the following records of the Luken family, copied from the Bibles of Jan Lucken, who settled in Philadelphia County in 1683

Hannah Williams, wife of John Lewis Roberts, dies at the age of 40 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of John Williams & Eleanor Klincken.

The Society of Friends establishes a Monthly Meeting at Richland, Bucks County. Samuel Foulke, a prominent member, is appointed clerk at age 24. He continued in that capacity " about thirty-seven years, and nearly thirty years served as clerk to the meeting of ministers and elders."

Dennis Conard, infant son of Dennis Conrad & Ann Knight, dies in Philadelphia.

Sarah Tyson, daughter of Matthias Tyson & Mary Potts, dies at the age of 28 in Germantown.
Her brother, John Tyson, dies at the age of 30 in Upper Dublin township. He is unmarried.
His will, dated February 28, proved April 10, 1742, by which he devised his whole estate, including real estate to be sold by his executors, to his mother, Mary Fitzwater, and brothers and sisters, viz.; Rynear (executor), Isaac, Matthew, Margaret Hallowell, Mary Lewis and Elizabeth Tyson.

A son, Peter Lukens, is born to John & Sarah Lukens in  Horsham Township, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

A son, William, is born to William Lukens & Martha Pennington.

(Hannah Williams is my first cousin 8 times removed. Samuel Foulke is her nephew. Samuel Foulke is my second cousin 7 times removed.  Our common ancestors are Aret Klincken & Niske Agnes Jensen.
Dennis Conard is my second cousin 7 times removed. Our common ancestors are Thones Kunders & Elin Magadelen Tyson and Mathias Dohrs & Agnes Neesgen Op den Graeff. Sarah Tyson is his second cousin once removed.
Siblings Sarah and John Tyson are my second cousins 8 times removed. Peter Lukens is their first cousin once removed. Peter Lukens and William Lukens are my third cousins 7 times removed. They are first cousins. Our common ancestors are Mathias Dohrs & Agnes Neesgen Op den Graeff and Coentgen Lenssen Coenis & Anna Entgen Thones.)
