The Worland Family in America and Beyond

I began my life in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, on an island filled with forests and wild rhododendrons. I was separated from my Worland family there at an early age. Recently, I was reunited with my family and learned of my heritage. And so, this journey to know my ancestors began. The Worlands, Gideons, Newtons, Conards... they were the colonists, the settlers, the pioneers. They fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War. August 1741, Pennsylvania

August 12, 1741- A son, John, is born to John Jarrett & Alice Conard of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
John recieves  the deed to all property belonging to his parents, John Jarrett & Mary Lukens.

August 13, 1741- George Potts is born to Ezekiel Potts & Magdalen Miller in Bristol Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

August 18, 1741- John Lewis is born to Ellis Lewis & Mary Tyson in Upper Dublin Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

August 31, 1741- John Lukens marries Sarah Lukens in Horsham Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. They are first cousins.
Both John and Sarah are descendants of the original German immigrant families who settled Germantown. Jan & Mary Lukens and Rynier & Margaret Tysson left Rotterdam in July 1683 and arrived in Philadelphia in October 1683.
John Lukens, a mathematician and philosopher, was the son of Peter, and when a young man served his time with Nicholas Scull as a chain-carrier and practical surveyor.
John and Sarah separated from the Quaker church in Horsham, January 25, 1743 , having been disowned for marrying first cousins.


(John Jarrett is my second cousin 7 times removed. John Lewis and John Jarrett are third cousins. John Lewis is my third cousin 7 times removed. Our common ancestors are Thones Kunders & Elin Magadalen Tyson and Mathias Dohrs & Agnes Neesgen Op den Graef.
George Potts is my second cousin 7 times removed. Our common ancestors are Thomas Potts & Elizabeth Baset.
John Lukens and Sarah Lukens are my second cousins 8 times removed. Our common ancestors are Mathias Dohrs & Agnes Neesgen Op den Graef.)
