The Worland Family in America and Beyond

I began my life in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, on an island filled with forests and wild rhododendrons. I was separated from my Worland family there at an early age. Recently, I was reunited with my family and learned of my heritage. And so, this journey to know my ancestors began. The Worlands, Gideons, Newtons, Conards... they were the colonists, the settlers, the pioneers. They fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War. November 24, 1737- Ann Fish is born to Preserved Fish & Elizabeth Slocum in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island.

(William Sisson is my first cousin 9 times removed. Our common ancestors are George Sisson & Sarah Lawton.
Ann Fish is my third cousin 8 times removed. Our common ancestors are Thomas Lawton & Elizabeth Salisbury. William Sisson is her second cousin once removed.)

October 5, 1737- Ebenezer Tuttle is born to Ephraim Tuttle & Hannah Pangborn in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut.

October 7, 1737- David Moss and Mindwell Doolittle are married in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut.

October 13, 1737- Daniel Moss, brother of David, marries Mary Watts in Wallingford.

October 17, 1737- Gershom Tuttle marries Lois Allis in Cheshire, New Haven, Connecticut.
John Doolittle marries Hannah Royce in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut.

(Ebenezer Tuttle is my third cousin 7 times removed. Mindwell Doolittle is my second cousin 8 times removed. Ebenezer is her first cousin once removed. Gershom Tuttle is my second cousin 8 times removed. Ebenezer is his nephew. Our common ancestors are Abraham Doolittle, Paul Peck & Martha Hale, and John Moss & Goody Charles.
Mindwell Doolittle and David Moss are second cousins once removed.
David Moss and Daniel Moss are my second cousins 9 times removed. Ebenezer Tuttle is their second cousin twice removed. Our common ancestors are John Moss & Abigail "Goody" Charles.
John Doolittle is my second cousin 8 times removed. Mindwell is his second cousin. Our common ancestor is Abraham Doolittle. )

October 3, 1737- William Lawton is born to Isaac Lawton & Sarah Howland in Bristol, Rhode Island.

October 15, 1737- Silas Sherman is born to Peleg Sherman & Innocent Wodell in Tiverton, Newport County, Rhode Island.

October 19, 1737- Thomas Sherman takes Mary Sanford as his second wife in Portsmouth, Newport, Rhode Island. She is his second cousin.
His first wife, Sarah Sisson, had died in February of that year.

(William Lawton and Silas Sherman are my third cousins 8 times removed. Thomas Sherman is my second cousin 9 times removed.  Our common ancestors are Thomas Lawton & Elizabeth Salisbury.
Mary Sanford is my first cousin 9 times removed. Our common ancestors are George Sisson & Sarah Lawton. )

September 20, 1737- Joseph Sisson dies at the age of 32 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island.
Joseph was born in 1705 to Richard Sisson & Ann Card.
This information comes from the diary of his uncle William Sanford. I believe this to be a different individual than the Joseph who married Bathsheba Cooke.

May 26, l737- A deed of gift is recorded of a female slave from Mary (Cox) Cawood to her son in law Ralph Robey and Penelope (Cawood) Robey, his wife. It also gives Mary's daughter Ann Thomas, wife of John Thomas, lst child of the slave, and Mary Willet, wife of Charles Willet, the 2nd child of the slave.

February 17, 1737- My eighth great granduncle, Daniel Doolittle, marries Mary Andrews in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut. Daniel is 61 years old, and this is his second marriage. He had married Hannah Cornwall, a sister of his brother Samuel's wife, in 1698; Hannah died in 1736.

February 19, 1737- Susanna Todd is born to Christopher Todd & Hannah Tuttle in New Haven, Connecticut. Susanna does not reach adulthood: she dies at age 13.

February 23, 1737- Mary Peck, 7 year-old daughter of Samuel Peck & Mary Parmalee, dies in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut.

February 28, 1737- My sixth great grandfather, Jonathan Turner, is born to Stephen Turner & Abigail Doolittle in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut.
