The Worland Family in America and Beyond

I began my life in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, on an island filled with forests and wild rhododendrons. I was separated from my Worland family there at an early age. Recently, I was reunited with my family and learned of my heritage. And so, this journey to know my ancestors began. The Worlands, Gideons, Newtons, Conards... they were the colonists, the settlers, the pioneers. They fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War. This is their story, and the story of a nation. -Deci Worland MacKinnon

February 1736, Connecticut

February 4, 1736- The town of Middletown, Connecticut appoints a conservator over William Cornwall, 23 year-old son of William Cornwall & Martha Thompson, because of sickness and poor husbandry. He later became a seafaring man and lived in Newport.

In the same year, his cousin once removed, William Cornwall, son of William Cornwall & Mary Bull, deeded about two hundred and fifty acres of land to his son William, and about one hundred and fifty acres of land, with his house and barn, to his son Andrew, and divided between them his interest in the grist mill and his rights in the undivided lands of the town of Middleton.

February 9, 1736- Christopher Todd marries Hannah Tuttle in New Haven, Connecticut.

February 15, 1736- Desire Dowd is born to Janna Dowd & Desire Cornwall in Guilford, New Haven, Connecticut.

February 16, 1736- Benjamin Cornwall and twin sister, Hannah Cornwall, are born to Benjamin Cornwall & Mary Ward in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut.
