The Worland Family in America and Beyond

I began my life in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, on an island filled with forests and wild rhododendrons. I was separated from my Worland family there at an early age. Recently, I was reunited with my family and learned of my heritage. And so, this journey to know my ancestors began. The Worlands, Gideons, Newtons, Conards... they were the colonists, the settlers, the pioneers. They fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War. 1742, Connecticut

My eighth great granduncle, Reverend Izrahiah Wetmore, dies at the age of 86 in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut.
Born in 1656 to Thomas Wetmore & Sarah Hall, he wed Rachel Stow, daughter of Reverend Samuel Stow and Hope Fletcher, of Middletown, in 1692, and left many descendants. His father-in-law made him his executor and speaks of him in his will in terms of the highest praise.
He was Magistrate of the town and had been deputy to the General Court of 1721-1728 inclusive.
 "a man of fine abilities, says tradition, and enjoyed the confidence and esteem of the colonists".
His son, Judge Seth Wetmore, served as Magistrate and Deputy of the Court of Connecticut at the time of Izrahiah's death.

Esther Moss, daughter of John Moss & Martha Lothrop, marries Samuel Frary in New Haven, Connecticut.

Annah Key is born to Samuel Key & Anne Cornwall in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut.

Ebenezer Blakeslee, young child of Ebenezer Blakeslee & Jemima Tuttle, dies in New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut.

Patience Barnes is born to Thomas Barnes & Abigail Brockett in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut.

(Esther Moss is my first cousin 10 times removed. Our common ancestors are John Moss & Abigail "Goody" Charles.
Annah Key is my second cousin 8 times removed. Our common ancestors are John Cornwall & Martha Peck.
Patience Barnes and Ebenezer Blakeslee are my third cousins 7 times removed. They are third cousins. Our common ancestor is Abraham Doolittle.)

February 7, 1741

A son, Ebenezer, is born to Ebenezer Blakeslee & Jemima Tuttle in New Haven, Connecticut. The child does not survive, dying the following year.

February 25, 1741

A daughter, Margery, is born to John Doolittle & Hannah Royce in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut.

(Young Ebenezer Blakeslee and Margery Doolittle are my third cousins 7 times removed. Our common ancestor is Abraham Doolittle.)

December 1, 1739- Daniel Bacon is born to Joseph Bacon & Bethia Whitmore in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut. (Daniel would later wed Mary Abernathy, listed below.)

December 5, 1739- Chloe Moss is born to David Moss & Mindwell Doolittle in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut.

December 9, 1739- Mary Abernathy is born to Caleb Abernathy & Lois Gaylord in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut.

December 10, 1739- Twins, Grace and Patience Parker, are born to Andrew Parker & Susanna Blakeslee in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut. They do not survive, dying within days of their birth.

December 14, 1739- Sarah Stow is born to Eliakim Stow & Lydia Miller in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut.

December 15, 1739- Elizabeth Bacon is born to Jeremiah Bacon & Elizabeth Cornwall in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut.

December 24, 1739- Hannah Cotton is born to Ebenezer Cotton & Hannah Cornwall in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut. Her mother, Hannah, would die a week later, at age 24, on December 31, 1739.

(Daniel Bacon is my first cousin 8 times removed. Our common ancestors are Samuel Whitmore & Mary Bacon, Nathaniel Bacon & Ann Miller, and Thomas Wetmore.
Cloe Moss and the Parker Twins are my third cousins 7 times removed. Our common ancestors are Abraham Doolittle, John Moss & Abigail Charles and Paul Peck & Martha Hale.
Mary Abernathy is my third cousin 7 times removed. Chloe Moss is her third cousin. Our common ancestor is Abraham Doolittle.
Sarah Stow is my third cousin 7 times removed. Our common ancestors are Thomas Wetmore & Sarah Hall.
Elizabeth Bacon is my second cousin 8 times removed. Our common ancestors are Nathaniel Bacon & Ann Miller, Thomas Wetmore, and John Cornwall & Martha Peck.

July 5, 1736- Phebe Hubbard is born to Robert Hubbard & Elizabeth Sill in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut. She would die in infancy.

May 1731, Connecticut

May 2, 1731- My eighth great grandaunt, Elizabeth Doolittle, dies at the age of 79 in New Haven, Connecticut. She lies buried beside her husband in Montowese Cemetery, North Haven.
Tombstone reads: "Here lies ye Body of Mrs Elizabeth ye Wife of Mr John Brockett who died
March 1731"
Elizabeth was the daughter of Abraham Doolittle & Joan Alling.
Her family moved to Wallingford about 1668, and there a few years later Elizabeth married Dr. John Brockett.

May 5, 1731- Samuel Hall is born to Daniel Hall & Martha Doolittle in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut.

May 12, 1731- Lois Tyler is born to Nathan Tyler & Rachel Tuttle in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut.

May 17, 1731- Ebenezer Blakeslee marries Jemima Tuttle in New Haven, Connecticut.

(Samuel Hall is my first cousin 8 times removed. Our common ancestors are Samuel Doolittle & Mary Cornwall. Elizabeth Doolittle is Samuel's grandaunt. Lois Tyler and Jemima Tuttle are Elizabeth Doolittle's great grandnieces. Lois Tyler and Samuel Hall are first cousins once removed.
Lois Tyler is my third cousin 7 times removed. Jemima Tuttle is her second cousin once removed. Jemima Tuttle is my second cousin 8 times removed. Samuel Hall is Jemima's second cousin. Our common ancestor is Abraham Doolittle.)
