The Worland Family in America and Beyond

I began my life in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, on an island filled with forests and wild rhododendrons. I was separated from my Worland family there at an early age. Recently, I was reunited with my family and learned of my heritage. And so, this journey to know my ancestors began. The Worlands, Gideons, Newtons, Conards... they were the colonists, the settlers, the pioneers. They fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War. March 1738, Connecticut

March 7, 1738- My sixth great granduncle, Joel Whitmore, is born to Samuel Whitmore & Hannah Hubbard in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut.

March 18, 1738- Moses Moss is born to Joseph Moss & Lydia Jones in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut.

March 30, 1738- Oliver Sisson is born to William Sisson & Hannah Mullins in Stonington, New London, Connecticut.

(Moses Moss is my third  cousin 8 times removed. Our common ancestors are John Moss & Abigail "Goody" Charles.
Oliver Sisson is my second cousin 8 times removed. Our common ancestors are George Sisson & Sarah Lawton.)

March 1738, Maryland

March 1, 1738- (Charles County Land Records) The deposition of Edward Gillins, age about 37, who says that about 1 year ago, this deponent heard Mr. Benjamin Neale say his father told him that if he should die, there was no one living that could prove either the bounds of Slingsbeys Land, Gills, or Russells, but Mr. William Thompson. And further, this deponent says that Mr. Benjamin Neale told him that he supposed that the bounds of Slingsbeys stood in the sycamore thicket.

(Benjamin Neale is my second cousin 7 times removed. Our common ancestors are Benjamin Gill & Mary Mainwaring and Oliver Mainwaring & Margaret Torbock.)

February 1738, Connecticut

February 1, 1738- Phebe Stow is born to Samuel Stow & Mary Ward in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut.

February 12, 1738- Noah Dowd is born to Janna Dowd & Desire Cornwall in Guilford, New Haven, Connecticut. He will not survive childhood, dying at age 4.

February 14, 1738-  Lois Tuttle is born to Ezekiel Tuttle & Susannah Merriman in New Haven, Connecticut.

February 28, 1738- Mehitabel Doolittle is born to Hezekiah Doolittle & Hephzibah Tyler in Wallingford, New Haven, Connecticut.


(Phebe Stow is my third cousin 7 times removed. Our common ancestors are Thomas Whitmore & Sarah Hall.
Noah Dowd is my second cousin 8 times removed. Our common ancestors are John Cornwall & Martha Peck.
Lois Tuttle and Mehitabel Doolittle are my third cousins 7 times removed. They are third cousins. Our common ancestor is Abraham Doolittle.)
