February 12, 1739- Ann Lawton, wife of Captain Job Almy, dies at the age of 60 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island.
The daughter of Isaac Lawton & Elizabeth Tallman, she was born in Rhode Island in 1678.
February 28, 1739- Peleg Sanford is born to Richard Sanford & Elizabeth Coggeshall in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island.
( Ann Lawton is my first cousin 10 times removed. Peleg Lawton is her first cousin twice removed. He is my second cousin 8 times removed. Our common ancestors are Thomas Lawton & Elizabeth Salisbury.)

December 25, 1738- John Slocum, a merchant in Dartmouth, and Deborah Almy are married in Dartmouth Township, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
Inscription on the Slocum Family Monument:
JOHN 5 SLOCUM, SON OF ELEAZER, BORN 4 AUGUST, 1717; MARRIED DEBORAH ALMY, THEY WERE MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY OF FRIENDS. RESIDED IN DARTMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS. A YEOMAN AND MERCHANT, THEY HAD 12 CHILDREN: 1.JOB. 2.ELIZABETH. 3.ELEAZER. 4.JOHN. 5.FITZGERALD. 6.PARDON. 7.ELSIE 8.EBENEZER. 9.ELEPHEL. 10.JONAH. 11.DEBORAH 12.RESTCOME.
The Slocum Family Monument has the family history dating back to the 1600's. This monument is located in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Northville, N.Y.
