My eighth great granduncle, Reverend Izrahiah Wetmore, dies at the age of 86 in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut.
Born in 1656 to Thomas Wetmore & Sarah Hall, he wed Rachel Stow, daughter of Reverend Samuel Stow and Hope Fletcher, of Middletown, in 1692, and left many descendants. His father-in-law made him his executor and speaks of him in his will in terms of the highest praise.
He was Magistrate of the town and had been deputy to the General Court of 1721-1728 inclusive.
"a man of fine abilities, says tradition, and enjoyed the confidence and esteem of the colonists".
His son, Judge Seth Wetmore, served as Magistrate and Deputy of the Court of Connecticut at the time of Izrahiah's death.
