Richard had come from England with his parents in 1709. The Cox family lived in New Castle County, Delaware. The Monthly Meeting of Friends granted him a certificate on February 5, 1712, to move to Pennsylvania in order to marry Margaret Potts; it was accepted March 26, 1712.
Richard Cox granted certificate from Kennett Monthly Meeting to Abington Monthly Meeting, PA, to marry with "a friend belonging to ye monthly meeting of Abington in ye County of Philada.", 5 2nd mo. 1712.
Margaret was a daughter of Jane Potts, a native of Wales, whose husband had died on the voyage from England. She arrived in Philadelphia by a later ship, to find herself a widow with four daughters. Jane settled in Germantown and is said to have supported her family by the practice of medicine, having brought a diploma from England.

May 28, 1712- Thomas Potts and Judith Smith are married at Abington meeting. Thomas had come from Wales in 1683 with his widowed mother.
(Margaret Potts is my first cousin 8 times removed. Thomas Potts is Margaret's uncle. Thomas Potts is my seventh great granduncle. Our common ancestors are Thomas Potts & Elizabeth Baset.)
Interesting about your Cox lineage! I have a Cox line also. William b. 1598 in England and arrived in Virginia in 1610. When the muster was taken in Feb. 1624/25, he was listed as William COXE, age 26, at Elizabeth City, with Thomas BOULDINGE. He married Elizabeth Hutchins.
